Advance Care Planning (ACP) are preparatory steps taken by a patient to make decisions about their end of life care if they become unable to speak for themselves. These decisions are for the patient to make, based on their personal values and beliefs, and it is important to respect the wishes of each individual patient. ACP is often ignored until it is too late, causing other issues to arise within families and the patients’ healthcare treatment. These steps include getting information on life-saving treatment options and deciding whether or not to utilize them.
